Two tall forms on horseback exited the south side of the city of Gonlonian, hoods pulled over their heads in order to keep the chill night wind from assaulting them from behind. Blue eyes peered out from the shadows from atop the white mount, and then closed as a sigh escaped the riders lips.
"I hope all goes well while we're gone.." a soft female voice finally spoke, breaking the silence that surrounded the two riders. The other, lifting her head and pushing the hood off her head shrugged. She didn't speak at first, instead taking in their surroundings with her one good, brown eye.
The quiet rider had short ragged brown hair that pushed around her face at the winds urging, revealing under a thick set of bangs a scar that ran over her left eyebrow and across the cheek bone, the eye it once wounded tightly shut.
She tilted her head to look up a hill, noticing in the distance the small flicker of light that was up the path from them just a way. She clicked her tongue at the horse, urging it to a faster pace.
Her companion followed suite.
The site that they found, was only just so surprising. A young woman was walking along the road, red hair pulled back into two low pigtails save for the long bangs that insisted on sweeping across her pale face. She stared up at them with baffled green eyes. Who were these riders?
She shifted her cloak uncomfortably against the wind, pulling it tighter around her. But even the wounded rider could see the creases of more then one set of wings, and the tip of a tail peeking out from underneath the cloak.
"Are you Griphon?" The woman quieried, drawing her horse to a halt along the girls side. The red head paused, her hand resting on the hilt of her broadsword warily, then nodded in response. The riders dismounted, and the one still hooded walked forward.
Blue eyes focused on the girl before her, she removed her hood entirely. Black curls of hair were pulled tight into a ponytail that bore a ring of gems around its base. She smiled warmly, giving a curtsy to the girl first.
"I am Evidia-"
"Queen Evidia of Advartian," the one eyed rider cut in. The Queen coughed in mild annoyance.
"Yes, Raven. Queen." She turned her smile back to Griphon, trying to ignore her companion now, "My name is Evidia. I heard tell of a young woman who took up hunting in this area recently. You've filled several bounties in a short period of time. I'm impressed."
Griphon's cheeks pinked with the compliment, and her stature relaxed. This..Queen, had a gentle voice. "I..am only trying to make a little money. I'm nothing special, ma'am."
Raven, the dark eyed rider, looked as though she couldn't agree more as she re-mounted her horse. Griphon couldn't help but notice she seemed impatient to get back to where ever they had come from.
Evidia's smile remained. "I would like, Griphon, if you would join us at the castle. I have need of more talented huntsmen." She paused at a snort from Raven and her voice seemed to tremble with a hidden laughter when she spoke again, "We certainly have the best around. I believe you might make a fine addition."
Griphon smiled pleasantly, bowing her head, "With all respect your Highness. I have to decline."
Both women stopped to stare, though the Queen looked significantly less surprised. She still smiled. "May I inquire as to why my dear?"
"Because," Griphon volunteered pleasantly, "I think Finigan, would become quite lonely without me. Besides, I have duties there as well. I couldn't just leave him."
It was hard to believe Evidia's smile could grow brighter, yet it did. Her eyes seemed to shine with amusement, but she didn't indicate any inward thoughts. "How about this. I'm not willing to give you up so easily. Why don't you ride back with me to the castle? You can see it for a day or two, and see how you feel. Raven here will go fetch your Finigan and bring him as well. If anything, it'll serve as a nice little vacation."
Griphon seemed to contemplate this for a moment, until Evidia tilted her head and uttered a soft please. The lycan caved with a chuckle, "Alright then. But if Fin isn't happy there, I can't stay."
Evidia nodded, ignoring blatantly the sudden looks of protest from her riding companion. She mounted her horse, and held her hand down to Griphon, helping the girl up. She smiled at a now fuming Raven.
"You bring the boy in the morning wont you? I'll make sure a rooms ready for him. There's a girl," she chuckled, turning the horse back through town before Raven could say another thing.
Raven turned her horse towards the house on the hill with a scowl, "Spoiled little..."
